Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in what may be the first high-profile visit by a Central leader at the beginning of 2024, will visit Jammu on Tuesday to review security and the progress of development works initiated in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah’s visit also comes weeks after four Indian Army personnel were killed and three others injured in a militant attack in the Poonch district on December 21. Three civilians, who were picked up for questioning by the security forces after the attack, also allegedly died in custody.
According to sources, apart from chairing a high-level security review meeting, Shah will also address a rally in connection with the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp yatra in the Jammu region, besides inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of various development projects here.
Shah will also distribute appointment letters to youth who have been selected for various government jobs. He will also launch an e-bus service in Jammu city.
The ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, which is scheduled to last till January 26, is expected to gain further momentum after Shah’s rally. J-K’s Lt Governor Manoj Sinha will also address the rally.
Several projects have been launched in Jammu and Kashmir during the past four years, both in the Central and UT sectors, sources said.
