A day after National Conference MLA Salman Sagar castigated his party Member Parliament Aga Ruhullah for staging a protest against his own party, Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday claimed that NC is heading towards a “split.”
J&K BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur while talking to news agency said, “Aga Ruhullah staging a protest against his own party shows that all is not well within the National Conference and its heading towards a split.”
He said, “The NC Member Parliament sitting with Iltija Mufti, Waheed Para and others is a clear indication that NC is facing a major crisis internally.” Thakur termed Ruhullah’s protest as a “political drama.”
‘The NC government has failed on all the fronts and Ruhullah is trying to prove that he is not a part of the failed government.”
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Tariq Hameed Kara termed MP Aga Ruhullah’s protest outside his own Chief Minister’s residence as “NC’s internal matter.”
“We don’t want to comment on the internal matter of the National Conference, similarly. We also expect no one to comment on our internal matters,” Kara told.
Terming the basis of the reservation as “Census”, Kara said, “Rahul Gandhi has been pushing the entire country for the caste census. He has made it clear that reservation should be given on the basis of the population.”
Another senior Congress leader while commenting on Aga Ruhullah’s protest said, “Certain things need to be read between the lines.”
It may be recalled that earlier this week NC Member Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah had staged a sit-in outside Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s official residence in Srinagar over reservation policy row. He was joined by the leaders from opposition parties.
Reacting to Ruhullah’s protest MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar had expressed strong dismay. “If the MP believes that he can do it, then that's his individual prerogative, however, this was not the National Conference's initiative. The protest was a platform for the party's adversaries. It was a gathering of our adversaries, of our enemies. Unfortunately, one of our MPs was present there, giving them an opportunity to exploit the situation," he had said
