Arun Sharma Handball Academy (ASHA) won the 2nd edition of the Diwali Cup which was organised by the Arun Sharma Sports and Social Welfare Trust at SD Sabha School grounds, here today.
In the final, ASHA defeated Army XI Akhnoor 36-34 in a closely contested game. Divisional Sports Officer of the J&K Sports Council, Baljinder Pal Singh was chief guest, who interacted with the teams.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, president Kreeda Bharati J&K and Manager Mini Stadium Parade, Sat Pal Singh were guests of honour. Among special invitees present were Om Parkash Kesar, R C Vaid, Rahul Sharma and Manish Kumar (BSF Coach).
Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Kumar Sharma was all praise for the Trust for promoting the sports with special focus on game of Handball. He assured all possible help from Kreeda Bharati in mobilising youngsters from rural pockets.
The organising committee for the event was led by Ashutosh Sharma (member trustee) and included Chandan chouhan, Pawan Sharma, Rakesh Dogra, Pawan Khajuria, Rajat, Sanjay Manhas, Sanjeev Sharma, Vikas Nanda, Bachan Dogra, Atula Rajput, Bhawna, Neetu Gupta and Gourav Sharma(NIS)
