An Awareness Rally was organized by the Road Safety Club, Government Degree College Nowshera, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, to mark the observance of National Road Safety Month (Ist January to 31st January). The rally was conducted with the objective of spreading awareness among the general public about road safety rules and responsible road behaviour.

The rally commenced from the campus of GDC Nowshera and proceeded through the main route leading to Main Bazar, Nowshera. A large number of students, faculty members participated enthusiastically in the event.

Students carried placards and banners displaying powerful messages such as “Follow Traffic Rules, Save Lives,” “Safety First,” “Wear Helmet, Save Life,” and “Don’t Drink and Drive.” The participants raised slogans highlighting the importance of obeying traffic rules, wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and refraining from mobile phone usage while driving.

Officials from the J&K Police actively supported the rally and guided students on safe road practices. They also interacted with the public, emphasizing the role of citizens in preventing road accidents and ensuring safer roads.

The rally concluded at Main Bazar Nowshera, where a brief awareness address was delivered, reiterating the significance of road safety and collective responsibility. The event received a positive response from local shopkeepers, commuters, and pedestrians.

The programme successfully fulfilled its aim of creating awareness and sensitizing the public, especially the youth, towards the importance of road safety during National Road Safety Month.
