National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of betraying the massive mandate it received from the people of Jammu in the Assembly Elections by failing to fulfill its promise of restoring Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing Public Meeting at Sarara Rattanpur in Ghagwal Block, District Samba which was organized by Sat Pal and Chander Udhay Singh, Ajay Sadhotra lambasted the BJP for indulging in rhetoric and divisive politics instead of enabling a situation for the popularly elected government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah to address the pressing issues faced by the people of the region. The dual control has hugely impacted the governance, he added.
“The BJP has once again shown its disregard for the aspirations of the people by delaying the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir,” Sadhotra said, adding that “instead of delivering on its promises, the party thrives on communal politics and hollow slogans.”
Former Minister assailed the BJP’s approach to governance, accusing it of superimposing itself as the so-called ultra-nationalist entity while acting against the inclusive and diverse fabric of the Indian nation.
“Their reactionary and impulsive politics has inflicted more harm than good, both to the nation at large and to Jammu and Kashmir in particular,” he said, citing rising unemployment, spiraling inflation, and rampant corruption as direct consequences of the BJP’s mis-governance.
The National Conference Additional General Secretary reiterated his party’s unwavering commitment to providing good governance, accountability, job creation and inclusive development in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The National Conference, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, is resolute in its efforts to meet the aspirations of the people. Our focus is on delivering fast-track recruitment processes, developmental initiatives, and policies that uplift every section of society,” he said.
Highlighting the track record of the Omar Abdullah-led government, he pointed out the various initiatives undertaken to address the grievances and aspirations of the people. “The National Conference has always been at the forefront of safeguarding the rights of the people and ensuring equitable development across regions,” he asserted.
Mr Sadhotra urged the people to see through the BJP’s divisive agenda and stand united for the collective progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is time to demand accountability from those who have failed to deliver and support a leadership that has a proven history of serving the people with sincerity and dedication,” he added.
Hundreds of people led by Sat Pal and youth led by Puran Chand Sharma joined the National Conference and expressed full faith in the programme and polices of National Conference leadership Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. Sadhotra welcomed new entrants in the party and hoped that their joining will strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, and also make their efforts to fill the wedge created by BJP during elections.
