Early counting trends from the Election Commission indicate initial leads for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Nagrota and the National Conference (NC) in Budgam as counting begins for the Assembly by-elections in Jammu & Kashmir.
In Nagrota, BJP candidate Devyani Rana has taken an early lead over Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (India) candidate Harsh Dev Singh, securing a margin of 1,111 votes after round 1 of 11, details available with news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC.
Meanwhile, in Budgam, National Conference candidate Aga Syed Mahmood Al Mosavi is ahead of his rival, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, with an early margin of 624 votes after round 1 of 17, as per EC trends.
Counting for both seats is currently underway, and officials said the margins are expected to fluctuate as more rounds are completed.
