The body of another missing paratrooper was recovered on Friday from the upper reaches of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, three days after the duo went missing during an anti-militancy operation amid a severe snowstorm, officials said. A massive search operation was underway in the area for the past four days.

An official said that the personnel’s body was found following a massive search and rescue operation launched soon after communication was lost with the two personnel during adverse weather conditions in the Ahlan Gadole forest area.

Earlier, the body of one paratrooper was recovered from the same area on Thursday. Both personnel were part of a special operation team conducting searches in the snowbound heights of Kokernag.Officials said the recovery of the second body has brought an end to the intensive search that continued despite rough terrain and freezing temperatures.

Army sources said the mortal remains will be sent for formal identification and subsequent completion of military honours.
