Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday welcomed National Conference leader Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan’s intervention in the Rajya Sabha, where the issue of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir was raised on the opening day of the Parliament session.
Omar said in a social media post that Ramzan had used the first available opportunity in the Upper House to remind the Union government of its commitment to restore statehood, calling the intervention both timely and significant.
He noted that, in his remarks, Ramzan asserted the elected government in Jammu Kashmir had been left with “no powers” and that real authority continued to rest with the Lieutenant Governor.
