 Deputy Commissioner Jammu Dr. Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting with representatives of the insurance companies and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu to review measures for speedy settlement of insurance claims for the rain, flood induced losses suffered by business establishments, vehicles and properties.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for a coordinated approach to ensure timely relief to affected individuals and traders. He observed that many claimants have also lost crucial documents during the period of losses, which must be factored in while processing insurance cases.

It was unanimously agreed that the District Administration will facilitate close coordination between the affected persons and insurance companies to expedite claim settlements.

Insurance companies, on their part, assured to provide dedicated contact details and helplines for claimants to register and track their cases smoothly.

DC has also issued DO letters to insurance firms, automobile dealers and service centres to co-operate in implementing decisions of the meeting.

The President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu, raised key concerns of the business community and appreciated the proactive intervention of the District Administration in streamlining the process.

Additional District Development Commissioner   Sher Singh; Chief Planning Officer Ajaypal Singh; President Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu Arun Gupta and representatives of leading insurance companies and banks also attended the meeting.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the Administration’s commitment to extend all possible support to the business community and citizens to ensure that genuine claims are resolved at the earliest.
