An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Jopher village, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramnagar in Udhampur district.
Officials said that the encounter began during a joint search operation launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and other security forces.
“Contact was established with the hiding militants, leading to a fierce exchange of fire,” the officials said. Initial reports suggest that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
The operation is ongoing, and additional reinforcements have been rushed to the spot.
