Former minister and National Conference Additional General Secretary  Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today hailed Jammu and Kashmir’s victory in the Ranji Trophy as a defining and proud moment, saying the historic achievement has filled the entire region with joy and renewed confidence.
In a statement issued here, Sadhotra said the triumph has brought immense happiness to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who are celebrating the success of their cricketers with great enthusiasm. He termed the victory as a landmark in the sporting history of the erstwhile state and a testimony to the hard work, discipline and dedication of the team.“This is a defining and proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir. Our cricketers have demonstrated remarkable skill, determination and team spirit. Their achievement has made us all proud and jubilant,” he said.
Sadhotra also appreciated Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah for remaining present in Hubli to encourage the players, saying his presence boosted the morale of the team. It is heartening that the Chief Minister personally witnessed and supported the team. Such gestures go a long way in motivating young sports persons, he added. 
The National Conference Addl General Secretary said the victory will serve as a great source of inspiration for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the achievement proves that with proper guidance, facilities and determination, the youth of the region can excel at the national level and bring laurels. “This win will motivate our young boys and girls to channelize their energies towards positive pursuits like sports. It sends a powerful message that hard work always yield results, he said.
Sadhotra exuded confidence that the government will further strengthen sports infrastructure and create more opportunities for budding talent in both rural nand urban areas. He said there is immense potential in villages and small towns,z which needs to be identified and nurtured fully.
“The government must facilitate talent across Jammu and Kashmir byn mimproving playgrounds, training facilities and coaching support. Equal attention should be given to rural and urban areas so that no talented youngster is left behind,” he said.
Linking sports to social well-being, Sadhotra said greater engagement of youth in games can help combat the growing menace of drugs. He described sports as a potential game changer in steering the younger generation away from harmful
habits. “When youth are actively involved in sports and constructive activities, they are less likely to fall prey to negative influences. Sports can play a crucial role in countering the drug menace and building a healthier society,” he said.  Sadhotra called upon the youth to participate in games in a big way and make sports an integral part of their daily lives alongside academics. He said the Ranji Trophy victory should be seen not just as a win on the field, but as a moment that inspires a sporting culture across Jammu and Kashmir. “The future of J& K lies in the hands of our youth. Let this historic victory inspire them to dream big, work hard and bring more glory to Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
