Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday directed that a multi-layered, impenetrable security grid must be established along the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage route through the coordinated efforts of CAPFs, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and all security agencies
During a review meeting on the preparations for the upcoming yatra in the national capital, Shah said that the traditional security apparatus should be further strengthened with the extensive use of drones, CCTV surveillance, surveillance systems and other modern technologies during the pilgrimage.
The annual pilgrimage will commence from July 3 and end on August 28.
Senior officers of various CAPFs and the Jammu and Kashmir Police must continuously monitor the arrangements at the camp sites throughout the yatra, he further directed.
Proper arrangements for all essential facilities, including pilgrims' registration, accommodation, health services, and disaster management preparedness, must be ensured, the Home Minister said further.
Registration of locals and even animals associated with the pilgrimage must also be conducted, identity cards equipped with QR codes should be issued, and camps must be set up for the health check-up of the animals, Shah emphasised.
Pilgrims' batches will be allowed to proceed further only in accordance with the weather conditions and forecasts, it was decided.
Robust security arrangements must be ensured at other major tourist destinations in addition to the pilgrimage route, so that pilgrims can be safe and comfortable, Shah further directed.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Director General of CRPF GP Singh and Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi.
