 Jammu and Kashmir Police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday busted an interstate narcotics network and arrested a woman drug peddler along with two associates during sustained anti-drug operations in the area.

According to police, the operation began after a naka party of Police Station Qazigund, deployed at Churrat near Kund Mode, intercepted a suspect identified as Shakoor Khan, son of Ahdoos Khan, a resident of Madenpora Delhi and presently staying at Khanabal Batpora. A personal search led to the recovery of approximately 6.9 grams of a heroin-like substance, following which FIR No. 116/2026 was registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act.

During further investigation, backward linkages were established to a woman drug peddler identified as Rekha, wife of Mohd Suleman, originally a resident of Bawana, Delhi and presently residing at Sangam. Acting on credible inputs and a legal search warrant, a police team led by SHO Police Station Qazigund, Probationary IPS officer Manav Dhanetiya, under the supervision of Additional SP (Highway) Qazigund Mumtaz Ali Bhatti (JKPS), conducted a raid at her rented accommodation.

During the search, police recovered approximately 8.4 grams of heroin, syringes, aluminium foil paper and alleged stolen property from a concealed underground hideout beneath a bed, reportedly used to evade detection.City & Local Guides

Police said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused admitted to supplying narcotics to more than 200 clients and peddlers across the region. She also reportedly claimed that nearly Rs 25 lakh earned through the illegal drug trade was destroyed in a fire at her makeshift dwelling last year.
