A joint anti-terror operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) entered its twelfth day on Wednesday in the dense forests of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir.
The security forces are continuing efforts to locate suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the area. They have been conducting intensive search operations and checking the identity cards of travellers and locals as part of their efforts.
The operation, codenamed Operation Sheruwali, was launched following specific intelligence inputs indicating the presence of suspected terrorists in the region. It aims to trap the militants within the designated area while search teams proceed with their mission.
The terrain’s challenging nature and thick forest cover have increased operational complexity, requiring cautious advancement and constant surveillance by the forces. Security agencies are employing all available resources to monitor the suspected terrorists’ movements and neutralise any threats arising from their presence. The entire region remains under heightened security, with restricted access to certain locations monitored closely by officials. Search operations will continue until the area is fully sanitised and all security concerns have been addressed.
