The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered a detailed inquiry into an incident reported at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, following allegations of negligence and delay in providing timely medical care.According to Government Order No. 354-JK (HME) of 2026, a three-member committee has been constituted to investigate the matter. The panel is headed by the Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), and includes the Director Health Services Kashmir and the Medical Superintendent, Children Hospital Bemina, Srinagar as members.
The committee will examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, review the availability of staff at GMC Anantnag at the relevant time, and determine accountability, if any, for shortcomings in preparedness, medical response, and service delivery.
It has also been mandated to suggest remedial measures to prevent similar incidents in the future and submit a detailed report, along with supporting documents, to the Administrative Department within one week of the order.
The Principal GMC Anantnag and other concerned officials have been directed to fully cooperate with the committee and provide all relevant records and documentation.
