The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned an initial uniform allowance and annual renewal allowance in favour of personnel of the Special Security Force (SSF), officials said on Thursday.
According to an order issued by the Home Department, members of the SSF will be granted an initial uniform allowance of ₹20,000. The amount will be released in two equal instalments, with a gap of six months between the instalments.
In addition, the order provides for an annual renewal uniform allowance of ₹5,000, which will become admissible after one year from the date of receipt of the final instalment of the initial uniform allowance.
Officials said the allowance has been sanctioned exclusively for SSF personnel, keeping in view their status as a specialised force, and shall not be treated as a precedent for other cadres of the J&K Police or other government departments.
The order further states that the sanctioned uniform allowance will replace the Dress and Kit Maintenance Allowance that is presently being paid to SSF personnel.
The sanction has been accorded with the concurrence of the Finance Department and has been issued by order of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
