A Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was injured after being attacked by a group of goons outside Bakshi Nagar Police Station this evening.
Officials said the incident occurred around 8:30 pm when SI Nitin Khajuria, posted at Bakshi Nagar Police Station, was heading towards his home on his Royal Enfield bike.
They said a group of 6-7 persons travelling in a Thar vehicle (registration number JK02DR-6351) allegedly stopped him over a phone-related issue and attacked him with sharp weapons (tokas) on his head and legs. The attackers also reportedly threatened him with a pistol.Eyewitnesses rushed the injured officer to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.
At the hospital, the SI identified two of the attackers as Munna D, a known history-sheeter of the district, and Rishab alias Kaua. The identities of four to five other assailants are yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, police have registered FIR number 158/2025 at Police Station Bakshi Nagar under the relevant sections of law and have launched an investigation into the incident.
