Two persons were reportedly killed and six others injured after shooting stones struck a passenger bus and several other vehicles at Raggi Nallah on the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH-244) in Doda district on Monday, officials said.According to officials, continuous shooting stones and mudslides hit the highway at Raggi Nallah, damaging multiple vehicles, including a passenger bus. Two persons died in the incident, while six others sustained injuries.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The identities of the deceased and injured were not immediately known.
Following the incident, the 110-km-long Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH-244) was closed to traffic due to continuous shooting stones and mudslides. Officials said restoration work has been taken up but is likely to take time as rocks continue to fall in the affected area.
Authorities have advised commuters to avoid travelling on the highway until the road is cleared and declared safe for vehicular movement.
