The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said Monday it has arrested an assistant sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for allegedly sharing sensitive information with Pakistan intelligence officers.
NIA said it arrested the CRPF ASI from Delhi, and is questioning him. The Central agency said he was sharing classified information after receiving funds from them, and he has been dismissed from the service.
He was remanded to the agency’s custody till June 6 by the Special Court at Patiala House Courts.
“We have arrested the CRPF personnel, identified as Moti Ram Jat. He was actively involved in espionage activity and had been sharing classified information related to national security with Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs) since 2023. We have also found that he was receiving funds from the PIOs through various conduits,” a NIA spokesperson said.
A CRPF spokesperson said they found Jat had violated established norms and protocols during “sustained monitoring” of his social media activity in coordination with Central agencies.
“Upon preliminary assessment, the matter was deemed serious and has since been referred to the National Investigation Agency for further inquiry. Concurrently, the said individual has been dismissed from service with effect from 21.05.2025, under the relevant provisions of the Constitution of India read with the CRPF Rules,” the officer said.
