National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its continued exploitation of the Jammu youth, saying the ongoing protests over recruitment to the Naib Tehsildar posts in Jammu and Kashmir is yet another mischievous obstructive tactics to deprive educated unemployed youth of jobs.
In a statement, Sadhotra questioned why didn't the so-called “double engine” government with BJP ruling both at the Centre and earlier proxy in the government in the erstwhile state failed to undertake any course correction.
Actually, he said the BJP failed miserably to deliver on its promises to the youth for ten long years. "If the BJP was serious about employment and transparency, why didn’t they fulfill the legitimate aspirations of unemployed all these years? What prevented them from initiating a time-bound and transparent recruitment process, including for Naib Tehsildar posts?" he asked.
Sadhotra said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir had been reduced to mere vote banks, with the BJP using recruitment drives as political gimmicks during elections and then conveniently pushing them into cold storage. The aspirants have waited for years, with no clarity, no timelines, and no accountability. This was not just inefficiency it is betrayal," he said.
Sadhotra reminded that during the National Conference-led governments in the past, recruitment processes, were conducted regularly and transparently. “We never played with the hopes of our educated unemployed youth. The BJP, however, made uncertainty and confusion the new normal, which is why they were rejected by the people,” he added. He also referred to the recruitment scams especially of Sub-Inspector Police and rationale behind repeated policy shifts, exam cancellations, and re-advertisements during ten years which he said had only added to the frustration of lakhs of aspirants. The BJP leadership owes an answer to the youth of J&K. How many recruitment processes had been completed? What happened
to the promises of fast-track recruitment and employment generation?” he asked. Sadhotra said that National Conference government under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah stands firmly with the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and committed to work towards fulfilling their aspirations irrespective of region, religion or caste.
