In a significant administrative development, highly placed sources have revealed to The Publish that senior IAS officer Saloni Rai is likely to be appointed as the first woman Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Saloni Rai, who previously served as Deputy Commissioner (DC) Udhampur, was recently under orders of transfer to Delhi. However, sources indicate that she may not be relieved from the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in view of the proposed administrative reshuffle.
The development gains further traction as the home cadre deputation of Sachin Vaishya, who has served as Deputy Commissioner Jammu, is reportedly nearing approval. With his likely move back to his parent cadre, the post of CEO of the Shrine Board is expected to fall vacant, paving the way for a new appointment.
If appointed, Saloni Rai would create history by becoming the first woman CEO of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the autonomous body that manages the affairs of the revered shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra. The Board oversees pilgrim management, infrastructure development, security coordination, and financial administration of one of the country’s most visited religious destinations.
Sources suggest that the administration is keen on ensuring continuity in governance and strengthening institutional leadership at the Shrine Board, especially ahead of the upcoming pilgrimage seasons.
While no official notification has been issued so far, administrative circles indicate that the announcement could be made shortly.
The Publish will continue to monitor developments in this regard.
