Sat Sharma, President, Bharatiya Janata Party J&K and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), chaired a meeting of party activists at Srinagar to review organizational matters and seek feedback on ongoing programmes. He was accompanied by General Secretary Anwar Khan.
The meeting was attended by J&K BJP Secretary Arif Raja, spokesperson Altaf Thakur, Bilal Parray, Salinder Singh, Mir Asim and other senior functionaries and activists from across the district.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma emphasized strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and ensuring effective implementation of programmes at the booth level. He sought detailed feedback on ongoing outreach initiatives and directed party workers to intensify public contact campaigns to highlight the achievements of the Central Government.
Referring to the recently presented Union Budget and the Budget tabled by the NC government in J&K, Sat Sharma said that while the Union Budget reflects a clear vision for inclusive growth, youth empowerment, infrastructure development and farmer welfare, the NC government’s Budget lacks direction and fails to address key public concerns. He urged party activists to take factual information to the masses and counter misinformation being spread by opposition parties.
Taking a strong dig at the Congress, Sat Sharma said that the party is misleading the nation and the innocent public of J&K on important international trade deals. He clarified that the interests of Indian farmers remain fully protected. Citing the example of apple production, he stated that the country produces around 21 lakh tonnes of apples annually, while the domestic requirement is about 26 lakh tonnes. “Nearly 5 lakh tonnes have to be procured from outside the country to meet demand. Out of this, only a small quantity is being imported from the US, and that too at higher rates, which in reality poses zero competition to the local produce,” he said.
Anwar Khan, in his address, stressed the importance of unity and coordination within the organization. He called upon party workers to remain proactive, strengthen public outreach, and effectively communicate the benefits of government policies to every section of society.
