Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday demolished an illegally acquired property worth approximately Rs 1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Sajad Rather, a resident of Waghama, Bijbehara.
The action was carried out as part of the ongoing intensified campaign against narcotics trafficking and to dismantle the financial networks of drug peddlers operating in the district. Officials stated that the property had been identified as having been acquired through proceeds generated from drug-related activities.
Acting under relevant provisions of law, the police, in coordination with the civil administration, executed the demolition after completing all necessary legal formalities. The action sends a strong message to individuals involved in drug trafficking that illegally acquired assets will not be tolerated and will be dealt with strictly.
Anantnag Police reiterated its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and urged the public to come forward with any information related to drug peddling. Authorities emphasised that such decisive measures will continue in the future to ensure a drug-free and safe environment for the community.
