Jammu Police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked a shooting case with the arrest of two persons including a history-sheeter.
Superintendent of Police, Jammu Rural Brijesh Kumar Sharma here told reporters at a presser that on the intervening night of November 2-3, one Imran Khaleel, a resident of Gujjar locality, suffered injuries when some unidentified persons fired at him at the Nikki Tawi area.
The injured person was admitted to Government Medical College Hospital following which a case was registered and police teams were constituted to solve the case.
The SP said that several suspected persons were rounded up and with the help of CCTV footage and other related evidence led to solve the case.
He said two persons -- Mohammad Hussain Khatana and Mohammad Ramzan were taken into custody from near the fourth Tawi bridge while they were travelling in a SUV vehicle.
One of the two arrested in the case was already booked in at least nine criminal cases including drug peddling and bovine smuggling, said the officer.
He further revealed that 18 grams of heroin was also recovered from their possession and during interrogation, they confessed their involvement in the firing incident.
"The accused persons had mistaken the victim as an informer of the rival gang with whom they had a scuffle," said the SP adding that a pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition was also recovered on their disclosure from the Rangoora area.
