An Air India flight, Boeing 787-9 aircraft, operating from Delhi to London returned to the bay on Thursday following a technical snag, said an official, who noted that the decision was taken by the cockpit crew who aborted the flight as a precautionary measure.
In a statement, an Air India official further said that the airline will arrange an alternate flight with a Boeing 787-9 plane for the passengers. Details about the passengers on board, however, is yet to be ascertained.
"Flight AI2017 operating from Delhi to London on 31 July returned to bay due to a suspected technical issue. The cockpit crew decided to discontinue the take-off run following standard operating procedures and brought the aircraft back for precautionary checks," news agency ANI quoted an Air India official as saying.
"An alternative aircraft is being deployed to fly the passengers to London at the earliest. Our ground staff is extending all support and care to the guests to minimise inconvenience caused due to this unexpected delay," the Air India official said.
