Well, now we know where Alia Bhatt will be in May. The actress, who celebrates her 32nd birthday on Saturday, revealed during a pre-birthday bash with the media that she will make her debut at France’s biggest red carpet – the Cannes Film Festival.

Confirming the news, she added that discussions about her look have already begun, with her team working on a new makeup approach. Bhatt said: “This is going to be my first year when I'm going to Cannes. So I'm very nervous and very excited, and I'm also now trying my hand at new makeup looks and videos. I put up a makeup tutorial of my own at the beginning of the year. Now my, you know, my team is like, Why don't we try something that you've never done before, like blue eyeshadow or pink eyeshadow or something like that?”

The actress will walk the carpet representing beauty brand L'Oréal Paris, who she has been an ambassador for since 2024, joining Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a regular attendee of the Cannes Film Festival. Bhatt has always stunned on international carpets, making a jaw-dropping appearance at the Met Gala 2023 in a floral Sabyasachi saree. Last year, the actress walked the Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris ramp at Paris Fashion Week, donning a metallic breastplate paired with black sharara trousers.

This year, the 78th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13 to May 24. It will be headed by Academy Award-winning French actress Juliette Binoche, who clinched the baton from last year’s jury president, Greta Gerwig.
