At least 14 people were killed and 52 others injured in a bus accident in Haripurdhar area of Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district. Police had earlier put the death count at 8 people but raised it to 14 as more bodies were pulled out fro the debris during the rescue operation.CM Sukhu expresses condolences, deputy CM meets injured
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. In a statement, he directed district authorities to extend all possible assistance to the families of the deceased and ensure proper medical care for those injured.  
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri visited Medical College Nahan, where he met passengers who were injured in the Haripurdhar bus crash and are currently undergoing treatment. He enquired about their condition and assured them of all possible support.
Calling the incident deeply tragic, Agnihotri said the loss of 14 lives in the accident was extremely painful. He said the administration was responding promptly and that relief and rescue operations were underway with full urgency.
Visuals from the scene showed locals at the accident site involved in rescue efforts and pulling out passengers.
Agnihotri added that all injured passengers are being provided the best possible medical care and expressed hope for their speedy recovery.
Sirmaur SP Nishchint Singh Negi said the bus was en route from Kupvi to Shimla when it fell off a mountain near the Haripurdhar area. Eight deaths have been reported till now in the mishap, he said.
Police and rescue teams were rushed to the spot, and the SP oversaw the rescue operaitons. 
Bus was overloaded
Officials said the private bus had a seating capacity of 39 passengers but was overloaded at the time of the accident. The exact number of people travelling in the bus is yet to be ascertained.
