MY Bharat, Jammu, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, successfully organised a Cluster Level Sports Meet as part of the flagship initiative Sansad Khel Mahotsav at KNIT Model Academy Jammu. The event was graced by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma as the Chief Guest and was dignified by the presence of Surinder Kumar Bhagat Hon’ble MLA Marh and Arvind Gupta Hon’ble MLA Jammu West who encouraged the participating youth and sportspersons with their presence. The event was aimed at nurturing sporting talent at the grassroots level and encouraging youth to adopt sports as a means for physical fitness, discipline, and character building.
The sports meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from young athletes across the cluster, reflecting the growing interest in sports among youth. A total of six sports disciplines were conducted during the event, comprising two team games—Volleyball for Boys and Tug of War for Girls—and four individual events—Shot Put (Boys), 200 Metre Race (Boys), Skipping Rope (Girls) and Badminton (Girls). The competitions were conducted in a spirited and disciplined manner, showcasing sportsmanship and teamwork among the participants.
While addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chief Guest motivated the youth to actively participate in sports and emphasized the role of games and physical activities in building a healthy, confident, and responsible generation. He also highlighted the various initiatives and sustained efforts of the Government of India to promote sports culture among youth, especially at the rural and grassroots levels, through platforms like Sansad Khel Mahotsav.
The Hon’ble MLAs, in their addresses, appreciated the efforts of MY Bharat in providing opportunities to young sportspersons and reiterated that such initiatives play a crucial role in identifying talent and channelizing youth energy in a positive direction.
At the conclusion of the event, winners and outstanding performers were felicitated with trophies and certificates, recognizing their achievements and encouraging them to pursue sports with greater dedication.
In the end Shri Nitin Hangloo, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat, Jammu, presented the vote of thanks. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, the Hon’ble MLAs, and all dignitaries for their guidance and support. He also acknowledged the cooperation and valuable contribution of KNIT Model Academy and SSCAJK in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the sports meet.
The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing MY Bharat’s commitment to promoting sports, fitness, and holistic development of youth in the region. Among others present were Sh Ayodhya Gupta, Bhuvnesh Mehta, Bharat Bhushan, Gopal ji, Anita Rajput, Deepak Pandey and Raman Singh.
