As part of the VB Gram G Janjagran Abhiyan, the Jammu & Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party organized a series of Gram Choupals (village meetings) at different locations across Jammu to create awareness about the Central Government’s village-focused welfare schemes and to ensure last-mile delivery of benefits to the rural population.
BJP J&K President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, CA, addressed Gram Choupals at several places. He, along with Prabhari Vinay Gupta, MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat, Mandal President Shamsher Singh, Sarpanch Ashwani Sharma, and other senior leaders, addressed a Gram Choupal at Sungal C Panchayat in the Akhnoor Assembly constituency. He also addressed a choupal at Panchayat Jandyal in Nagrota constituency, accompanied by District President Nand Kishore Sharma. Another choupal was organized at Sungal B, where Sat Sharma was accompanied by District President Kuldeep Sharma, MLA Mohan Bhagat, Mandal President Shamsher Singh, and other leaders.
While addressing the choupals, Sat Sharma said that the VB G RAM G Act is a historic and visionary step towards building a “Viksit Bharat” by empowering villages and strengthening grassroots democracy. He emphasized that the Act reflects the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to inclusive, transparent, and corruption-free governance. He said that with a resolve of developed India, VB G RAM G will realise Mahatma Gandhiji’s dream of Gram Swaraj by making villages economically self-reliant, socially empowered, and administratively strong.
Sharma further said that the Act focuses on productive asset creation, skill development, local employment generation, and community participation, thereby transforming rural citizens from beneficiaries into partners in development.
Meanwhile, J&K BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, along with District President Jammu Naresh Singh, Mandal President Pushkar Sharma, Mandal Vice Presidents Kunti Devi and Rajat Sharma, and Booth President Capt. Rajinder Singh, addressed a Gram Choupal at Gadi Garh in R.S. Pura constituency.
Ashok Koul said that unlike earlier rural schemes which were plagued by corruption, leakages, and political favoritism, VB G RAM G ensures direct benefits to the people, transparency in implementation, and accountability at every level. He said that the Abhiyan strengthens grassroots democracy by involving villagers in nation-building. He emphasized that awareness campaigns at the booth and panchayat level help eliminate misinformation and ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes, making villages self-reliant and prosperous.
Mohan Lal Bhagat said that the BJP government’s focus on villages has resulted in better infrastructure, healthcare access, and livelihood opportunities. He assured villagers of continued efforts to resolve local issues through coordinated action.
