The Meteorological Department forecast a wet spell for next week in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

A meteorological department official said that while generally cloudy weather with the possibility of light rain and snow (in higher reaches) was expected over North Kashmir and the Sonamarg-Zojila axis today, the weather is likely to remain “generally dry” from April 4 to 7. The MeT department also predicted the possibility of thunder with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at a few places towards late afternoon today.

Regarding April 8, he said the weather is expected to be generally cloudy towards the afternoon, with the possibility of light snow over the higher reaches of North Kashmir and Sonamarg.

From April 9 to 10, generally cloudy weather with light rain and snow (in higher reaches) is expected at many places in the Kashmir Division and at scattered places in the Jammu region.

On April 11, generally cloudy weather with light rain and snow (in higher reaches) is expected at isolated places in the morning, followed by improvement thereafter.

The MeT department urged travellers, tourists, and transporters to follow the traffic advisory issued by the authorities.

Additionally, the weather department advised farmers to continue farm operations for now.
